"Averie Larsen is no longer able to enjoy the free time that she used to take for granted. She now spends her days trying hard to recall things that she has forgotten, but this is task is much more difficult than it sounds. At age fifteen, Averie is dead and seperated from the life she once knew. During the time she was alive,

Averie was an only child who lived in a big city. She was modest and studious, and a bit of a wallflower. She had a small group of friends with whom she shared everything, but treated everyone else coldly. She never appreciated all the good things she had in life, which is why she was punished when she died by having the majority of her memory erased. Interestingly, when she tries to think back to her final moments of life, she remembers water. Lots of water.

There is still hope for Averie. Leighton Wood, a seventeen year old boy, took his final breath at the exact same moment as Averie. They lived lives that were almost complete opposites and their personalites could not be more conflicting. Leighton, a generous and insightful soul, died while trying to save his younger sister in a fire that consumed their home.

Now Averie and Leighton are together in the afterlife. They are stranded in a place where time is frozen and mystery lurks in every shadow. Leighton must help Averie recover her lost memories in order to move on to the other side, but what if he and Averie fall in love? What happens when he has to go, and Averie must stay? Will she be able to purify her soul enough to be able to meet him again someday, or be eternally punished for her life of arrogance?"
